1944 Michelin Under Allied Bombing – Hélène Saint-André

This book explores the Allied bombing of the Michelin Cataroux factory in Clermont-Ferrand on March 16, 1944. The raid claimed 21 lives, left many injured, and made hundreds homeless, yet it remains largely absent from public memory. Drawing on historical analysis, the author examines the causes and significance of the attack, placing it within the broader evolution of aerial warfare as it spread far beyond the front lines, and gives voice to the civilian experience of living under bombardment.
