Reproduction of the Italian poster: the Michelin tyre beat the railway.

The age of the wonderful driving madmen. To help the tyre supplant the rail, then at its peak, Michelin commissioned Montaut to produce a poster announcing the (theoretical) victory of the automobile over the railway. An advertising argument based not on an actual race but drawing a bold parallel between the kilometres covered on racetracks by cars and train timetables.
