In the aftermath of the Great War, tyre manufacturer Michelin set about establishing its own rubber tree plantations in Indochina.
The famous rubber tree thrives in this region. Engineers, administrators and foremen left Clermont-Ferrand to become pioneers, with all that this entailed. of heroism and fear, suffering and humanity. Everything must be imagined and built from scratch in this virgin forest. Resourcefulness is therefore essential. However, the company’s successes cannot be separated from the course of history.
Revolution is brewing. To construct this narrative, faithful to historical accounts and facts but not without a touch of fiction, François Graveline was given free access to the archives of the great manufacturer and was able to interview the heroes of an adventure that continues today in Brazil and Nicaragua.
